Election Day...

Nov. 2, 2010

An election day lunch for my little guy who loves American history...just like his mama! :)

Tapioca pudding with a raspberry on top, turkey roll-up, strawberries/blueberries, roasted pumpkin seeds.

Jack-O-Lantern...

Oct. 21, 2010

Today is the much anticipated "pumpkin carving day" at our house. The kids are beyond excited so I thought I'd surprise my son with this jack-o-lantern lunch.

Today's lunch includes a whey crispie treat, string cheese, roasted almonds, ham & cheese sandwich squares, hollowed out orange filled with strawberries, oranges and blueberries.

Halloween...

Oct. 8, 2010

The kids are getting excited for Halloween! Today's lunch includes: Homemade granola bar, grape/string cheese bites, cucumber, cinnamon almonds, peanut butter pumpkin "wafflewich" (I add flaxseeds and used whole wheat flour for the following recipe:http://weelicious.com/2010/01/14/pumpkin-waffles/)

Happy Fall

Oct. 3, 2010

This is my favorite time of year! I love the crisp air, the colors...so much to love about this season! Today's lunch includes: leaf shaped noodles mixed with a little butter and freshly grated parmesan cheese, Brawny brownie (recipe from the Sneaky Chef and it's loaded with spinach, blueberries, wheat germ, etc...), kiwi, leaf shaped turkey and cheese sandwich.

Dino lunch...

Sep. 22, 2010

My son is all about dinosaur's right now after a recent trip to the Science Museum. Today's "dino lunch" includes: Sunbutter cookies (gluten-free/peanut-free...recipe can be found in my "notes" section), raspberries/kiwi, broccoli/snap peas, cheddar cheese/crackers, Dino shaped sunbutter sandwich.

P.B. Roll ups...

Sep. 15, 2010

One of my son's favorite lunch items is a peanut butter roll up. I made these using Joseph's Lavash Bread and natural peanut butter (you could do sunbutter or cream cheese/jam for a peanut-free option). Today's lunch includes a p.b. roll up, chocolate whey crisp no bake cookie, oranges/strawberries, broccoli, cajun cheese curds (from a local cheese factory...YUM!).

Pac-Man...

Sep. 13, 2010

My boys experienced the video game "Pac Man" for the first time the other day and they LOVED it! It amazes me that even with the high tech video games out there these days, kids still love the ol' classics like Pac Man. Today's "Pac Man" lunch includes: protein balls,pineapple/blueberry skewers, celery/carrots, chocolate almonds, turkey sandwich on Arnold's sandwich thins, colby and mozz cheese. (A note about deli meat...I use Boar's Head NATURAL brand found at my local butcher shop. It's nitrate free and doesn't have a lot of the junk found in most deli meats.)

Jedi...

Sep. 2, 2010

Last spring we took the boys to Universal Studios in Florida where they became official "Padawan's" at the Star Wars Training Center. Ever since then they have been all about Star Wars! Today's cast of characters...Darth Vader and Yoda and inludes: cinnamon almonds, celery and natural pb, blueberries/strawberries, white american cheese & crackers, peanut butter sandwich bites (cut out with cookie cutters from Williams Sonoma), Trader Joe's alphabet cookies.
